Filtrona has won the Rotary India National CSR Award 2025 in the healthcare (Large) category. The accolade recognises the company’s community project, “Niramai,” an outreach programme that provides complimentary advanced, non-invasive breast cancer screening for rural women in Karnataka, South India.
The community initiative involves the deployment of a thermal-scanning, AI-based screening device donated by Filtrona at a Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) in Doddaballapur, Bengaluru Rural. This PHC serves approximately 100,000 women aged 40 to 60 years old.
“We are immensely proud to receive the National CSR Award from Rotary India, which validates the power of combining AI technology with dedicated community outreach,” said Robert Pye, CEO of Filtrona. “Our partnership with PHC, a government-funded healthcare centre in Bengaluru, allows us to deliver the advanced, safe, and non-invasive breast cancer screening service directly to those who will benefit from it most – low-income rural women who have limited access to diagnostic centres. This recognition is a testament to Filtrona’scommitment to support the local communities where we have a presence.”
Since Filtrona donated the screening device to PHC, the project has benefited more than 1,000 women through 48 screening camps. Of those screened, 53 women were recommended for a second-level screening, demonstrating the device’s effectiveness in enabling early diagnosis of breast cancer.
