Filtrona, the global market leader in specialty filter solutions, has begun implementing a new Machine Monitoring System at its global manufacturing facilities as part of the company’s ongoing programme to boost manufacturing performance.
“As the world’s largest manufacturer of specialty filters with nine production sites, Filtrona places great importance on our manufacturing operations and capabilities,” said Robert Pye, Filtrona CEO. “The Machine Monitoring System enables us to achieve operational excellence through higher efficiency, reduced downtime, and optimised maintenance processes. As a result, it reinforces our ability to produce filters of the highest quality consistently and efficiently while ensuring the safety of our people.”
The Machine Monitoring System has been supplied and installed through a partnership with ACCEVO, an industry leader in advanced data acquisition and performance systems. The first phase of installation has started at Filtrona’s manufacturing sites in Hungary, Indonesia, and Thailand, with the remaining sites to be completed by 2025.
“By leveraging real-time data analytics, the Machine Monitoring System provides valuable insights into machine performance across our sites,” added Pye. “Not only does the system enable us to implement a predictive maintenance programme to reduce downtime, but it also optimises resource allocation and accurately monitors output in real-time across all machines and locations to drive efficiency, minimise waste, and improve productivity.”
Filtrona’s implementation of the Machine Monitoring System follows its recent investment in a new cloud Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution and the refactoring of its Manufacturing Execution System (MES) across the company. In 2024, the company expanded its flagship Filtrona Innovation Centre in Surabaya, Indonesia, boosting its R&D and testing capabilities to better serve customers.
