Filtrona, the global market leader in the design, testing and manufacture of specialty filters and related scientific services, has funded the construction of a new public health services facility (“Posyandu”) in Mondoluku village, Indonesia. Filtrona also donated medical equipment to the facility, including thermometers, cholesterol measuring meters, light pens, and weighing scales for adults and babies.
From September to November 2024, Filtrona partnered with nonprofit organisation Habitat for Humanity Indonesia to build the Posyandu according to government standards. Twenty-three Filtrona employees volunteered their time to paint the interior and exterior walls of the building.
On 10 December 2024, the public health services facility was completed and handed over to Mondoluku village by Ms Lay Moi Kow, Global Operations Director of Filtrona, at an official ceremony attended by representatives from Mondoluku village, Habitat for Humanity, and Filtrona.
“We are thrilled to have completed this community project and to officially hand over the keys to the new facility to the residents of Mondoluku,” said Ms Kow. “It has been a privilege for Filtrona to work with Habitat for Humanity to see this project through, from designing and planning to painting and furnishing the facility. The new Posyandu is a testament to the dedication and hard work of all the volunteers who share a common passion to improve the lives of the Mondoluku community.”
Before the Posyandu was built, Mondoluku village did not have a dedicated building for providing health checks for the residents. Instead, the health checks were done in the village’s administrative offices, which were in poor condition and lacked the necessary medical equipment. When the administrative offices were used for other activities, the pregnant women in Mondoluku village had to travel more than 2km to another village to do their health checks.
The opening of the new public health services facility follows another milestone in Filtrona’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) journey, after the company was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by EcoVadis, the leading sustainability intelligence and engagement platform for global supply chains. The Gold Medal is awarded to those organisations that achieve scores in the top 5% of their industry, reflecting exceptional performance and leadership in sustainability.
