SINGAPORE, 03 Feb 2026 – Filtrona, the global market leader in specialty filter solutions, today announced it has once again been awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by EcoVadis, placing it among the top 5 percent of companies worldwide in environmental, social and governance practices. This recognition follows the successful approval of its science-based targets for greenhouse gas emission reduction by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
These two milestones reflect Filtrona’s exceptional performance and leadership in sustainability and validate its transition from self-declared sustainability commitments to externally audited, Paris Agreement-aligned goals.
“Filtrona is off to a great start to the new year with the double recognition of receiving the EcoVadis gold award once again, and the validation of our emission reduction targets by SBTi,” said Robert Pye, CEO of Filtrona. “This is a pivotal step in our sustainability journey and reflects the commitment and efforts of every Filtrona employee, who has embedded sustainability into our daily operations and processes.”
The rigorous SBTi validation process, culminating in the four validated targets, involved comprehensive data collection from Filtrona’s nine global manufacturing sites across four continents. Operational teams on the shop floor conducted extensive audits of energy and consumption data, while finance and procurement teams provided critical inputs for Scope 3 supplier emissions. This collaborative effort ensures the targets are grounded in verifiable, high-quality data, setting a robust foundation for ongoing accountability. Filtrona’s verified targets include:
- Near-Term Scope 1 & 2 Emissions: 58% absolute reduction by 2030 from a 2022 baseline, targeting direct emissions from Filtrona’s plants through enhanced energy efficiency, renewable sourcing, and process optimisations.
- Near-Term Scope 3 Emissions: 63% absolute reduction by 2035 from a 2023 baseline, focusing on upstream supplier carbon footprints and strategic procurement shifts toward low-carbon materials.
- Long-Term Scope 1 & 2 Emissions: 95% absolute reduction by 2040
- Long-Term Scope 3 Emissions: 90% absolute reduction by 2050
These targets build on Filtrona’s proven track record, including a 50% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in 2024.
Looking ahead, Filtrona is committed to annual progress reports to maintain SBTi credibility, with near-term milestones including expanded renewable energy adoption and supplier engagement programmes. These efforts support broader ESG goals, such as Zero Waste to Landfill and a 25% sustainable product portfolio by 2030, ensuring long-term value for stakeholders amid rising regulatory and market pressures.
