Filtrona, the global market leader in the design, testing and manufacture of specialty filters and related scientific services, has received two awards in recognition for its commitment to sustainability.
The company’s Surabaya manufacturing site has recently received a Green Industrial Award from PT Surabaya Industrial Estate Rungkut (SIER), a company founded by the Indonesian government that manages the industrial estate area where the Filtrona facility is located.
“This recognition is a testament to Filtrona’s contributions in working towards sustainable industrial practices and compliance with environmental standards,” said Robert Pye, CEO of Filtrona. “We are thrilled that our efforts have been recognised, but more importantly, we are honoured to lead the way in living up to our ESG principles and underlining our commitment to building a more sustainable future.”
Filtrona was honoured with the award for Best Compliance In Environmental Regulation, in the Outstanding Regulation Compliance – SIER Green Industrial Award 2024 category. The award was presented to Pupung Purnaman, General Manager of Filtrona Surabaya, at an official ceremony at Vasa Hotel on 29 November 2024, just days after the company was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal by EcoVadis, the leading sustainability intelligence and engagement platform for global supply chains.
“This EcoVadis achievement places us among the top-performing companies worldwide in environmental, social and governance practices, and demonstrates our steadfast commitment to creating excellence in sustainable solutions for today and tomorrow,” added Pye.
EcoVadis evaluates companies across four key areas – Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The Gold Medal is awarded to those organisations that achieve scores in the top 5% of their industry, reflecting exceptional performance and leadership in sustainability.
“These awards were only made possible through the collective efforts of every Filtrona employee who contributed to embedding sustainability into the very fabric of our daily operations, processes and decisions,” Pye said. “The achievement reflects the dedication and passion of our global teams and underscores our role as a responsible corporate citizen. It also serves to reaffirm our alignment with global sustainability goals, such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.”
